LEGO C8 Chevy Corvette Stingray: A Mid-Engined Marvel for Your Shelf

  • Lego has introduced a new Technic set, the C8 Chevy Corvette Stingray.
  • While the model is smaller than other Technic sets, it still features working steering, opening doors, moving pistons, and rotating differentials.
  • The set will retail for $59.99 when it goes on sale in March.

There are few performance cars that offer as much value for the money as the C8 Chevy Corvette. You will have a hard time finding another new mid-engined V-8 sports car that can reach 60 mph in 2.8 seconds for less than $70,000. That’s impossible, since only the C8 meets those requirements.

It’s still a lot of money, but Lego can help you own a C8 even cheaper with its new Corvette Stingray Technic set. While the Lego Stingray will not provide the same acceleration as the 1:1 car, any minifigure in the driver’s seat will get whiplash.

There is a rich yellow hue available on the Lego Stingray that matches the color of the real car’s Competition Yellow. Brick-by-brick construction reduces fidelity, but it does a good job of mimicking the real Vette’s piercing front end and air intakes mounted on the door. It also includes a moving V-8 engine and differential. Also, it has functioning doors and an opening frunk and rear clamshell.

There are only 732 pieces required to assemble the Corvette Stingray set, which is on the easier side of Lego’s Technic line-up. Lego C8 is a good starter set, despite its smaller size and less detail than some of Lego’s more intricate models. It measures 10.5 inches long, 5.5 inches wide, and 3 inches tall. It’s great value for $59.99, just like the real thing. In early March, Lego Corvette Stingray will begin shipping to preorders.
